Mark Gillick’s songs could be described as Americana/Contemporary Folk.
They are snapshots of everyday life with some twists and turns, a trip down the country back roads and a ride down memory lane when the pace of life was a bit more relaxed
Mark began performing as an actor while in college along the coast of California.
For several years he appeared in plays along with working as an extra in movies and television. Mark moved to Colorado and continued theatre work and writing songs and soon began the open mic tour along with several performances at wine bars, small festivals and listening rooms. He has performed in several places such as The Black Rose Acoustic Society, The Buffalo Grass Acoustic and the Cañon Rose Acoustic Society and the Millbend Coffee House in Houston Texas.

”THANKS FOR SENDING. VERY LOVELY SONG. IT’S GREAT THAT PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY MUSICIANS AND SONGWRITERS, ARE REMEMBERING AND HONORING HARRY SO MANY YEARS LATER. THANKS….HOWARD FIELDS- Drummer Harry Chapin Band
Harry's son Jono wrote after hearing it:
Just listened to the song... We all know how people have so many ways of connecting to the words and music. Mark's song and the mention of singing "Harry Chapin songs" as part of the lyrics within the song brings up all sorts of imagery. It's just really nice to think of what is conveyed with people making the trip to meet with each other/spend their time together and as part of their evening together find comfort and enjoyment in singing Harry Chapin songs because there's lots of other things people could choose to do with their time. That alone - the activity would be a wonderful story - however, to recount the day and the choice to sing Harry Chapin songs in a song as part of what made the evening so special is quite a tribute.
Harry wanted to matter/to make a difference/to count for some show of having an affect on people and this email and the listening of the song is just another instance of how he really did matter in ways he might never have imagined.
